Hi all,
Last night, I was at a party with friends. One of them had brought her dog (greyhound) and it was calm, relaxed and enjoying the company. I got up from my seat and I must have stepped on one of its paws (or part of) because she made a sound and bit my leg. Now, I was wearing jeans and it was a quick bite, more like a nibble, no pain but stunned. Anyways, once I got back to my place I showered, cleaned my leg but found no bite mark... Except a tiny, pin-sized red spot that could very well be unconnected to the biting incident.
Now my question is: should I be worried about rabies? I live in Montreal and there hasn't been rabies in dogs this year (and I'm guessing the few times it happened in the past were feral dogs in rural or northern regions). I know the dog was given vaccines at birth but it's now 3-4 years old. The owner said the dog had had its regular vaccines but I can't be 100% sure without receipts.
Should I still go to my doctor and ask his opinion? Should I get the vaccine as well? Thanks!
