Viruses/Bacteria/Parasites

I accidently dropped my car keys down a public toilet yesterday. I then stupidly fished them out using my hand.

I immediately washed my hands throughly with anti bacterial soap and warm water and then I applied anti bacterial hand gel.

Am I at risk for anything here?!

Really nervous!

Yes if you have no cuts at all then you should ok. The only thing I would be worried about would be Hepatitis B and C. If the toilet bowl had been flushed then you were probably not exposed to anything if no open cuts. That doesn't mean the water is sterile but if there is no way for a virus or bacteria to get in via a sore or cut then you can't get anything. But, you may want to double check with a doctor to be sure. This is just my opinion.

Did you have any cuts on your hand or finger nails? If not you should be safe.

I would wipe down the keys with a disinfectant wipe as well just to have clean keys.
