how new flu affects seniors

by polly22, Aug 08, 2009 11:55PM
Does anyone know, for sure, whether there has been any study, other than regarding incidence statistics, showing seniors to be less suscepitble to getting the new flu? I am wondering whether I, as a senior, really am relatively safe from getting it. I know that, if I do, my chances of complications are greater than those of a younger person, yet as a senior I cannot get the vaccine until last. I am wondering whether any microbiological studies have shown that seniors actually have any immunity to this new (novel H1N1) flu.

While it is true that older people might already have the antibodies to defeat the virus quickly, there immune system is much weaker then us younger folk, thus they are put in line before us, as swine flu is weaker then the normal flu.
