Thanks for your reply - it explains why my friend has had several different doctors looking at him . My wife and I would like to help and I thought maybe paying for a top specialist would be better than him being seen by lots of doctors who I was getting the impression didn't know what to do !
  However as you point out several areas of expertise are needed, particularly as in Tony's case he has suffered from Crohns disease for many years.
