Can tou have rabies from a love bite of a cat , NO open skin at all! Unbroken skin????
Thank you for your valuable time doctor.Yes all of my problems cleared up by 20th day. Then i felt fine for two days.I took bath using cooling oil and never dried my head and body and i caught fever the next day(The fever was gone in two days and i.had an inflamation in throat which also cleared in a week now i am at 12th day since the start of fever and feeling good). Now i think this is the start of rabies symptoms(The important fact here is i was never bitten by any dog other than my pet which was safe after the 10 day period)Every fever i think it is the start of rabies symptoms and i should blame my ocd and hypochondriasis for this.Doxtor your comments will be helpful.
Hi,
Thanks for the updates. It is possible that the throat pain was due to a viral infection, which may also explain easy transmission and resolution of symptoms. Try not to worry. For health practitioners like us, it is usual to read more into our symptoms probably because of our exposure to a lot of medical issues. For your throat discomfort, drinking plenty of fluids and taking medicated lozanges may also help. Take care and warm regards.
Today is the 19th day and i have no problems now and i had no other symptoms other than the fever and the fever was also on and off.after that i was feeling good for one day and in the 13 th day i had some throat problems and after taking some anti biotics the throat problems cleared and now just i have some discomfort in throat sometimes.I should mention here that our maid woking in my house had a severe throat pain and at the 13th day i was exposed to here9may be it would have been from her?) anyways i have no other symptoms as of now just some thoroat dryness. today is the 19th day and a doctor told me i would have been dead by now!i think i am going to be ok doctor.whats your take?(an additional info:i am also a medical student doing my md)
Hi,
I understand your concern regarding rabies from the other dog. What other symptoms are present and were there diagnostic tests done? Rabies, a viral disease of mammals, is often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal.Transmission of rabies virus usually begins when infected saliva of a host is passed to an uninfected animal through bite. If it has been 4 months already and if the other dog was asymptomatic at that time, the risk for rabies is low. I recommend that you have this on-off fever evaluated and have diagnostic tests such as cbc or urinalysis to help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
