help with Insomnia

I have had insomnia for the last 18 years. I have been to several doctors. The last one was an ENT, he did a Turbinate Reduction with deviated septum because I also have Apnea. He was going to do additional throat surgery but said my last sleep study didn't support the surgery and didn't think it would be worthwhile. I also see another doctor who speaks with my ENT, he is in Neurophysiology at Massachssetts General, he has given me several different Muscle relaxers but either haven't worked or worked some of the time, but have caused weight gain, this was/is my biggest fear next to not sleeping. He has recommended Buspar. I am wondering if there is a cure for insomnia and in looking at some of the side effects like dizziness, is there any other option?

thanks
Suzanne

U may be ok with Buspar but I just quit it 5 days ago. I was given it a month ago at 15mg a day broken in half and I floated drunk all day every day and developed worse than ever insomnia after lowering to 5mg a day I still felt the same and just quit it.  I hate it however it relieve the depression I was developing.  I will not take that drug again, I have never felt so spacy

As I have discussed at length in many of my posts and blogs, the first-line treatment for insomnia is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which is more effective than medication. You can review my posts and blogs on CBT or visit my website for more information on CBT.
