trouble staying asleep

by Kcain, Feb 01, 2009 11:22PM
I have trouble staying asleep.
I'll wake up 2 or 3 times just to check what time it is.
I don't know why that is?
I use to wake up at the same time every night, ending up haveing a bowl of cereal.
Can't remember the last time I slept straight thru the night!
I've considered taking a sleep aide, but I don't want to become dependant.
Help!

Waking 2 or 3 times for a few minutes is not abnormal as long as the total awake time does not exceeed 30 minutes. Waking a few times per night briefly is actually normal, particularly as we age. We usually wake like this at the beginning or end of a sleep cycle.

Hiya
I use to have a simular problem
I use to wake up at 1.35am and 4:55am every night so i know what you mean, you feel like you dreamt the night before and that night is more realistic,

However it wore itself off with me, i was suffering from mild stress and depression at the time,
I dont know if you suffer from it too but i would suggest if its gone on for more than 2 weeks go and see a qualified doctor

Sorry i couldnt be much help
