Calcium carbonate for MTHFR????

Calcium carbonate for MTHFR????

My friend has suffered a stillbirth followed by a 9 week miscarriage only about 4 months after.  She is currently pregnany again (just a few weeks) and was told by her midwife to take baby aspirin as well as 600mg of calcium carbonate.  She asked what the calcium carbonate was for but she said her midwife was not really clear.  Could you please offer an opinion/explanation regarding this?  My friend is heterozygous for MTHFR and is already taking the 4mg of folic acid as well.

Also, would you recommend her seeing a Perinatologist in conjunction with her midwife>  She has no living children as of yet.

Thanks in advance.
