Chances for successful pregnancy at 40

I've been trying to conceive for about 2 1/2 years.  Conceived 3 times but all ended in miscarriage around 7 weeks.  I recently saw a fertility specialist who looked at my bloodwork (day 3 FSH etc) and did standard u/s.  My FSH is somewhat high (14) but she was not too concerned about this since I did conceive. But she does feel I should be aggressive in trying to conceive again due to my age.

Her next step is a day 7 saline sonogram and blood test for antiphosphilid syndrome.  If all OK, she may put me on Clomid and do IUI to increase my conception chances.  Overall, she feels my chances are pretty good but that I also have a high chance of another miscarriage (40-50%).

Can you suggest anything else I should be doing and provide some opinion on my chances.  I have not yet looked at alternative med but wondering if anything would be useful at this point.  The high m/c rate is a big cause of alarm, but not sure what else I can do but keep trying.

At age 40 with FSH of 14, being more aggressive with fertility treatment is reasonable such as injectables (gonadotropins) with IUI or IVFor IVF/Egg donation. I would not do too many cycles with Clomid/IUI before moving on to more aggressive options. I wish you success.

I would also suggest complementary therapy with acupuncture and herbal medicine. This may enchance your chances of getting pregnant. I would suggest seeing a reputable practioner of acupuncture who is willing and used to working with western fertility doctors and the medications that they use.
