Deciding what to do

Dr. Kim,
I posted here awhile back about this same subject. I am a 34y/o Gravida 0, para 0. This was before receiving my radiology report. My uterous measures 17.2cm X 9.4 cm X 13.7cm. A large poorly defined mass in the myometrium at the anterior uterine fundus causing inferior displacement of the endometrium. Probably an intramural fiboird. Ovaries are fine. no free pelvic fluid. I have done research on fibroid tumurs. Most of which say they are not dangerous and can be left alone if they are asymptomatic. Well mine is not. It is causing pressure, burning pain (possibly due to pressure, I don't know) My ob/gyn told me if it grows between this month and feb. it has to come out. I spoke with an RN at another office and she said they usually grow with every period, how much is hard to say. She said it really needs to come out as soon as I can have it removed. I am very distressed and don't have a clue. (I don't have heavy bleeding from it). I am in nursing school; it has taken me 4 years or more to get an ADN degree. I only have 4 months until I graduate. If I drop, or don't return for the spring semester, I will have to wait an entire year before finishing. Is this fibroid going to cause me more pain compared to the depression I will have if I have to quit right now. I know only I can answer this question.

Maybe you can help me out as far as how bad will this get if I wait 4 months?
Is Lurpon the answer until I get out of school?
Any chance of something like chinese medicine helping?

My OB/GYN did not give me any other options until I asked. Not going to have kids lets get it out. Then when I mentioned it, he started giving me options like myomectomy and embolization (done in other places.)

I have also considered FAS. Only becuase of the ability to get smaller fibroids therefore having less reoccurence of fibroid growth.

I really appreciate your comments and help.

If it is only fibroids then 4 months of growth should not be significant and you should be able to finish nursing school. If you are afraid of uterine cancer, then you should have the uterus removed as soon as possible. And I think that is why your doctor said that if it grows fast this month and Feb it has to come out.  But if it is not cancer then fibroids should not grow so fast that waiting 2 more months is out of the question. If you are worried about growth then you can have a short course of lupron like for 4 months until you finish school. I wish you wellness.

If these fibroids are rapidly growing would arimidex be helpful until I can have surgery?
