IUI

by hoping4best130, Jun 29, 2009 10:08PM
hi.

i had my first IUI on 20 and 21st june. i read some place that sperm require 48 hrs to be fully mature. but my IUI was done back to back for two consecutive days. doesn't it effect the sperm maturity quality and hence outcome of IUI?

also for the first day sperm count was 35m/ml motility 95% and progression  2-4/4 but morphology in the original semen sample was 00%. they did not give a postwash morphology count.

for second day sperm count was 29m/ml 98% motility and progression  2-4/4 but morphology in original sample was only 1%.

i have my left tube blocked as well had four follicies on right side and three on left side. today 10 days have passed and i have no symptoms what so ever.i took a HPT as well and it came out negative.

what are the chances my IUI will be a success.

It does not require 48 hours for maturity but 2-3 days to help replenish.
Sometime back to back inseminations are done for men with low counts just to get more sperm there.

Unfortunately, because of the low mophology, your chances of success is low and so IVF/ICSI--ie intracytoplasmic sperm injection may be a better option.
I would discuss this with your IVF doctor.
