daVinci Myomectomy

daVinci Myomectomy

Hi. I have been having irregular blleding at age 27. HX of stage 4 endometriosis. I am hopeful to conceive within 1-2 years but want to address all the issues first. My doctor after extensive testing etc has recommended a daVinci Myomectomy. He said that if I wasn't planing on children he would suggest a hyterectomy b/c of the size and location of the fibroid which starts on the left outside wall goes into the uterus and out the other side with a good bit extending into the cavity. I do want to have a child at some point. The info given to me states that any surgery to the uterus leaves you at risk for rupture during birth or before. Is this common? I asked my DR and he says I haven't lost one yet but that really doesn't answer my question. One way or the other it has to come out, I'm bleeding between cycles, after sex or with exercise.Have pain that is worse than just the endo. What is your advice. Are you a believer in this relatively new surgery which uses robotic arms/hands? I'm only 27 and this feels like so much to take in. I am newly married and my husband has known from beginning that my fertility may be doubtful due to such severe endo. Thanks!

I do not have any experience with the daVinci Myomectomy. You should ask your doctor how many he has performed and what the potential complications are. If he has had good success and patients have then went on to be pregnant then you may decide to have this type of myomectomy instead of the traditional kind by laparotomy ie an incision on your abdomen. Again, I suggest talking with the doctor.
