I am 28 and stopped taking bc pills in February after 10 years.  since stopping i have on and off spotting in between periods(brownish in color) went to doc had trans ultrasound done found very small fibroid 1.8cm although doc does not feel this is the problem.  He did bloodwork for hormones, etc all in normal range.   I should also mention i have HPV, most recent PAP was normal--- I have another appt to go back, but this is starting to wear on me.   I keep thinking something is wrong with me and want some answers.  please help

Your bleeding could be midcycle withdrawal of estrogen causing spotting which is normal. It could be other things too. Although an ultrasound may be normal the endometrial cavity is better visualized by a saline sonohysterogram which is a procedure where saline is infused in the uterus while a transvaginal ultrasound is done. Alternatively a hysteroscopy can be done which is often an office procedure or a same-day surgery procedure where a hysteroscope is used to visualized the uterine cavity. When there are fibroids in the uterus sometimes there is one that is partially in the cavity called a submucous fibroid. These are the type of fibroid that often causes irregular bleeding. I suggest that you discuss this with your doctor and see if any of these further investigations may be appropriate for you.
