too many follicles

Just had IUI cancelled for too many follicles. should I try on my own. doctor feels I should wait, but it is up to me... any advise... there is 5-6 follicles

If you mean by trying on your own, having intercourse instead of IUI, I would have to defer to what you doctor told you. If your doctor said you can have intercourse, then they should have given you a general idea of what the likelihood for multiple pregnancies would be for ie twin or higher.  If you are young and your partner has a normal senen analysis then your risk for multiple gestation may be too high to go ahead.  If you are older or if your partner as poor sperm quality then the likelihood of you having multiple pregnancies is less and so you could probably have intercourse with very little risk.
