How do I get tested for Interstitial Cystitis?

I have had my urine dipped in the Dr's office numerous times.  Always show leukocytes and blood.  Have episodes of crampy abdomen and low back pain, urinary frequency as well as urgency.  Urine culture is always negative.  What do I do?

Hi,  I urine that is not infected but has leukocytes and blood could be a sign of the problem in the urinary tract.  Kidney stones, kidney tumors and bladder tumors often first cause blood in the urine from it's local irritation of the lining of the urinary tract.  Everyone with blood in the urine needs a standard work-up by a urologist including an X-ray or ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder followed by a cystoscopy (look into the bladder with a scope).  Stones and tumors can also cause urinary urgency,   frequency and back pain.  See a Urologist ASAP for an evaluation to rule out these problems, then the symptoms can be safely treated. Good Luck
