Non stop burning

My wife is suffering from non stop burning at vagina/urethra and all around for about last six months. She has done the course of Norflox also after  urine culture. During the medicine course burning was less but afterwards again it started and burns contineously. She has UTI earlier 8 to 9 times. she is 45 years and had histactomy 7 years back. Please suggest the course of treatment please.

HI, the question is --what is the cause of the burning. Before you start a treatment you need to know what the problem is.  If a single course of an antibiotic did not clear it then the question is: is this an infection problem not treated with the Norflox, a chemical irritation, an inflammation, a structural problem or what.  She needs to see a gynecologist or urologist to rule out a vaginal infection, or a urethral problem with a  pelvic exam and possibly a cystoscopy (look into the bladder)  to better localize the site of burning.  There is a problem called urethral symdrome that causes just a burning sensation.  Another problem is Interstitial Cystitis, which is an inflammatory problem of the bladder and urethra. There are other problems that may occur including a urethral diverticulum.  Start with a visit to the gynecologist or Urologist for a basic examination.  In th mean time, there is a drug called Pyridium 200mg three times daily for 3 days that will help relieve the burning. You will need a prescription for it. Good Luck
