Sensations after scope

by Lindsaymichelle, Aug 09, 2009 06:11PM
I was recently diagnosed with IC. I had to undergo the scope and the enlarging of the bladder to see what was going on. Since then I have been having a very wierd sensation. My bladder/vagina is very sensative... almost as if I am about to orgasm.. this hits me at all times of the day and has become very bothersome... I dont really know if this is a gynocology issue or a urology issue.. this has only been happening in the past 2 weeks since my scope

HI, it's not uncommon to have hypersensitivity in the vagina/clitoris when you have IC.  The bladder hypersensitivity can affects all organs in the pelvis including the vagina and pelvic floor muscles. It's unclear how the hydrodistention has caused the hypersensitivity since it usually causes a stretch injury to the bladder resulting in desensitization of the bladder nerves and reduced sensitivity.  You can talk to your doctor about applying a local anesthetic gel applied to the opening of the vagina to see if it helps. You may also need an exam by your urologist or gynecologist to better localize the hypersensitivity areas. If it is the bladder that's causing the symptoms an bladder instillation with lidocaine, a local anesthetic may help.  Good Luck.
