CYSTITIS

Hi hope someone can help.  I have had recurrent cystitis since last year, this year so bad when ultrasound performed they discovered a suspect ovarian cyst, this was removed with my ovary but bladder problem remains, some days okay, feeling of irritation in the bladder.  Gynae consultant today is referring me to urologist but l am scared, would anything sinister have shown on the ultrasound and does anyone now what tests l am likely to have.  I have just recovered from surgery six weeks ago for ovarian cyst and ovary removal and cannot believe bladder problem not resolved.
thank you so much

the urologist I saw did a scope thru the urethra- it scared me- I was so anxious the doctor had to have the nurse come round to hold my hand- I was crying- no one told me they would do that- there was a little numbing first but I had no clue and was not prepared for any of it- so read up on the scope- it's a tiny light- they really can see a lot- and it only lasts about one minute---- I had an inflamed bladder wall.

You are wise to prepare yourself with info before you go in- the other test was in the hospital - it was the dye into the kidneys-? I think they said this was over 10 years ago but I remember the dye made my arm feel very warm and they restarted the procedure twice before I could calm down. I was just anxious from the unknown too so you are smart to ask and get an idea before you go in.... If possible ask for some Valium or a relaxer and have a friend drive you to the urologist/hospital....

of course they could do different tests than these/ and like I said I don't want you to be alarmed but I wished I would have asked- you will be fine- it is not unbearable at all.....just a bit uncomfortable the first few seconds.

My dx was something like "cystitis/inflamed bladder wall from multiple infections- I took pyridium and doxycycline for awhile and sometimes right after intercourse if things "felt raw"... Now I take D- manose with Cranactin- I get it at a health food store and have had one flare up only in 1 year...... and it was very minor. I still take pyridium on and off, but no more antibiotics every month for me.....
