IC Patient

Hello,

I have been diagnosed with IC now for 12 years.  It seems the there are so many treatments but no cure.  I keep reading its a type of bacteria and so on.  All the IC patients have different symptoms.  I know it true because I have other friends with IC with different issues.  I do go to specialized IC doctor.  I am wodering if there is a urologist (or IC Specialist) that also specializes in infectious disease?  Perhaps that maybe the route Urologists need to look at.  The treatments are great but they don't last long.  I feel tired of the poking and hoping.  I just feel these doctors are torturing us.  Its frustrating. I even feel that this disease is a way to make money off of IC patients. Its not fair.  I know, there are a lot worse things out there.  Right now I am speak for IC patients who are tired.  

Once again my question is - Is there a Urologist or IC Specialist that also specializes in infectious disease?  If there is one...  Are they in Philadelphia PA...

I use to be on Neuortin and Effextor.  My husband and I recently decided we want to get pregnant.  The IC Specialist told me, it was impossible because of the meds I was taking.  That has been a nightmare.   I am on D-Amphetamine will be going on a low dose of Elavil. I am told that is better for me to get pregnant.   ( No Urologist or IC specialist was involved).

I decided to go another route,  Thank god I didn't listen to all these specialists negative remarks about getting pregnant. How painful if will be etc...  I paid a visit to a Doctor who put me on D-Amphetamine - the dose is very low.  This doctor did a study with D-Amphetamine on 30 patients with IC and they had babies.  Most of them the symptoms have gone in remisson and take no meds now.  One lady who works in his office had IC. The doctor put her on  D-Amphetamine.  She no longer takes D-Amphetamine.  She has no IC symptoms.  D-Amphetamine is easy to stop.  It is not like Neuorotin.  That was a mess. If you get symptoms, you can start the D-Amphetamine again.  I just wanted to share my experience...  If you want to get pregnant and you have IC.  There is a way.
