chronic retention
I went for an urine flow test today. I am retenting again Iam passing about 200ml. I am retenting anything from 390 to 200ml. The least I retained today was 190ml. I had a a and p repair may 3rd. I then had acute rentention. They took the cath out on the 6th june. I was peeing fine for 5 days no retention.  Will I have be recathed again and will this retention be a long term thing. I am really fed up of this. I was told that I have been retaining sience march 20011. They also say that the bladder muscle has completely gone and wont work. I am really fed up with this.

And to what do they attribute your bladder function?  What's the cause?  Do you have pain, frequency, urgency, etc.  What are some more of your symptoms and when did it start, can you identify a specific episode that triggered this?  These are questions you need to ask yourself and present the answers to your doctor.  Could be a gazillion things, may take time to get to the bottom of it.  Don't get discouraged, but if you don't have a good repitoire with your doc, look around.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment on the situation. Possible causes that maybe responsible include inflammations, strictures, neuro-muscular causes etc. The specific management and the expected prognosis would vary in each. I would suggest consulting a urologist for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
