Chest Pain

Chest Pain

I woke up 3 weeks ago with pain in the middle of my chest.  After about an hour I felt I needed to go to the hospital.  I was taken right away and after 8 hours in the ER my ekg, x Ray and enzine test all came back fine and I was told I have GERD and was sent home with a perscription for nexium.  I did not fill the perscription and lived with the pain on and off for 2 more weeks.  I went to my own doctor a week ago who did blood work to check for the HP bacteria and was given a RX for prevacid.  I have been taking the prevacid for 6 days now and are having good days where there is no pain and bad days where the pain lasts all day.  The pain moves around.  Sometimes it is in the middle of my chest sometimes on the left side by my peck.  It also goes from left side under armpitand in my back between the spine and lat.  I am in good shape and go to the gym pretty reguraly.  I am 6'0" and weight about 167.  My cholesteral last checked about 6 months ago was 137.  I do smoke like half a pack a day but have decreased that for a week now to 1 to 3 cigs a day.  For a couple of days now I have been feeling a weird feeling in my left forearm and pinky and ring finger also the back of my lower jaw and molars are a bit sensitive.  I do have a stressful life as a sales manager for a bank and I am just divorced for a year and a half now and lost my brother just over a year ago.  I know I am worrying about this pain which in turn makes it worse.  I am a 38 yr old male.  My blood presure is 115 over 75 and pulse ranges from 45 resting to 60.  My blood work comes back Wednesday should I insist on going to a Cardiologist for further tests or am I being paranoid?

You are absolutely NOT being paranoid; a 38 y/o male with atypical chest pain is in the intermediate risk category for having coronary disease and warrants having an evaluation. You should absolutely see a cardiologist for further evaluation.
