Quick history of me. Developed lone afib 8 years ago with small episodes of flutter. No cause found. Tried drug treatment which failed. Had pulmonary vein ablation in 2006. Now lots of dropped or skipped beats (not true fib probably pvc or pac) also racing heart rate associated with eating, laying down, msg's, stress, you name it. Could my lone fib have been caused by a sensitive vagus nerve that I now still am troubled with.My cardio mentioned my vagus nerve as a possible cause of my afib once in the beginning but never said it again. And if so other then avoiding triggers is there a way to calm the vagus nerve. How about taurine supplements or calcium and magnesium. Any information would be great. I am at my wits end with this crazy flopping heart of mine.

Vagal nerve activity can at times trigger atrial fib but that generally is related to eating or having a bowel movement or with urination.  I know of no supplements that can influence these episodes.  You should have a monitoring study to evaluate exactly the kind of arrhythmias you are having.

do you experience nausea, lightheadedness, breathlessness, or forceful heartbeat?

i have a similar problem that started right after i had an EGD (upper gi endoscopy),   the vagus nerve is all down that way, i suspect it was somehow activated to cause my symptoms...you wouldnt happen to have had an endoscopy?

Have you ever had your SED rate measured, do you know what it is?

Never heard of  a sed rate. Nope never had an upper gi except when I was a child. Had a ulcer at eight years old.

My sister had a similar problem for at least 15 yrs! it got so bad where she would have to lay  down on the ground where ever she was at the time, or if she was driving she would have to pull over. Finally, after that many years, she went to the dr. for this problem , we had begged her for years!  They took her to Osu (ohio state university hospital) and went up her left thigh, like a catherzation, and they did an ablation on her, which fixed the problem right away! no more afibs,(palpatations)
But then I started getting them! and they found out i had hypertrophis cardiomyapthy.,so I had open heart surgery! way fun...lol. But ,I honestly don't know how she took those palpatations for that many years! good luck, and ask about the "ablation surgery" it is fairly new i think.
