Hart image screening

by Johnmos, Jun 28, 2008 09:56PM

Hi
I am a male 40 years old, 6'0 275lbs being treated for high blood pressure and cholesterol. I do not smoke and I exercise moderately 4 times a week. Besides the exercise, I have a desk job 5 days a week getting little other exercise. Someone suggested that I consider  inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's.  Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems.
Do you think I should consider this image screening?

First, why are you taking Lipitor and Vytorin? Those are both "statins" and should never be taken together. You should stop one of these immediately. If you have had elevated CPK's it could be due to the statin and it is questionable whether you should be on one at all. Stop both of those medications and see your doctor immediately--bring your pill bottles. You need to get your medications straight before considering any testing.

I meant to say I am on Vytorin and Benicar. I was taken off Lipitor because of the elevated CPK level. But a recent blood test revealed CPK still elevated.
Thanks
