High Systolic BP and increased pulse

by MostPrecious1, Oct 28, 2008 03:16PM
Recently, I have been experiencing an increase in my systolic blood pressure and my heart rate. My systolic has been ranging from 154 to 211 and my pulse has been between 103 and 118 bpm.  I had been on Lopressor, Procardial XL, Lasix and Metformin but had to come off of the Procardia for about a month due to no health insurance and financial inability to buy the drug. However, my church paid for a 90 day supply and I am back on it now. I believe though I messed my body up because while I was off the Procardia, I began taking Cozaar that I had been on previously and stopped when I began taking the Procardia again.  My systolic and pulse began being elevated during the time I was on the Cozaar. I have been to the ER because of it but the doctor there said after taking an EKG, chest Xray and cardiac enzymes that he had no reason to believe that I was experiencing any type of problem with my heart. However, I have to admit I am stressing about the blood pressure and pulse. I've had a full cardiac workup within the past 18 months and all results were normal although I am considered morbidly obese. At this time I cannot afford to go to the doctor as I am still unemployed. Can you tell me what I can do to decrease my blood pressure and pulse and at what point you would suggest an ER visit?

Increasing the dose of metoprolol might lower your heart rate and blood pressure and might improve your symptoms.
