PFO - Hole in the Heart

I have a PFO.  Heart Dr. put me on Plavix four years ago.  I had only one TIA lasting 20 seconds.  Should I have the hole patched, as the Dr. wants, or is it ok to just stay on Plavix?  Or perhaps go off of Plavix (as I would like to do)?

There are ongoing trials to see if closure of the PFO is better than medical treatment which is in general aspirin but the jury is still out on the best approach.  Sorry but there is no definitive answer.
