Slightly enlarged heart

Slightly enlarged heart

I'm 35 years-old and went in for a routine physical, and my EKG was abnormal. I was scheduled for an exercise echo and was told that it went well. I was told that the walls were slightly thickened. I had an echo done a year ago with a different doctor and he never mentioned this so I'm puzzled now. I exercise 5 days a week and lift weights, should I be concerned? I've heard of athletes droppong dead after exercise and I'm very worried now. The Cardiologist said to continue to exercise, lose weight and keep an eye on my blood pressure because it's borderline high.

You may have borderline left ventricular hypertrophy (thickened left ventricle).  If this is mild then the advise you got is correct--the thicker the left ventricle the greater the potential risk.
