arotic calcification

arotic calcification

I had a chest xray and was told to see my pcp as soon as possible.  The only thing they said anything about on the xray was arotic calcification.  My doctor said that it was common in people my age(63) and said maybe we should check my cholesterol count.  I'm having soreness in my neck and I feel tired a good deal of the time.  Are these symptoms of arotic calcification?
What can I do?  Is there any way to reverse this problem?

Aortic calcification can refer to the aortic valve or the aorta itself. Either way, it is the current thought that aortic calcification is a marker for underlying coronary disease. It is concerning that you have soreness in your neck, as cardiac pain can radiate to the neck. I highly suggest you discuss these findings with your primary care physician. If he or she agrees, consider a cardiology consultation for further evaluation. I agree with having your lipid panel checked (cholesterol) as you should be tightly controlled to help prevent the progression of atherosclerosis.
