i have left atrial enl 5.3 cm mod aortic  and  mitral regurg mod diastolic dysfunction htn hih chol.  i have mult daily episodes of irre heartbeat episodes rates exceedin 150.  my question is do these  episodes which have been documented as svt vt and atrial fi b  on a holter predispose one to clots in the atria?  would a tee clarify this issue?

With your left atrial size and the valvular heart disease if you have had atrial fibrillation you likely need to be on Coumadin as the atrial fibrillation does predispose you to clots in the left atrium.  You need Coumadin and the TEE would not change the decision in my opinion.
