coming off of Atenolol

coming off of Atenolol

Hello
My husband is 51 and four and a half years ago he was diagnosed with high blood pressure and went on beta blockers. He has been on Atenolol with Chlorthalid tablets for about two years now.
The label on the bottle says 50/25MG M63 he takes half a tablet a day.
His heart rate has gone down to 39 beats a minuet, though it does fluctuate higher also.
The doctor has told him to come off of the tablets for the next five days and then go back and see her. I am worried that she has told him to come off too abrubtly. Please help

Tapering the atenolol over 5 days is appropriate and the dose of atenolol has been low and I would not expect a problem.
