Hi there!

My mother had just his 2d echo result. the summary of interpretation was dilated left atrium ( 3.8 cm) probably seconday to left ventricular diastolic dysfunction..What is the meaning of this? Aside from this her cholesterol is 234. Is the causes of dilation of his left atrium caused by her high cholesterol?

Please Help.

Thank you.

There are many things which could cause a large left atrium, however high cholesterol is not one of them. This needs to be discussed with her doctor who ordered the test.
