You need an ECG recording during one of the episodes and an event monitor which you keep for 2 to 4 weeks might be a way to get at the nature of your arrhythmia.
hi doctor .
im am a 31 years old female . ive been having alot of problems with my heart.
it all started when i went to get my teeth cleaned at the dentist . i was also 6 months pregnant at the time . my teeth cleaning was ok went home and layed down when i could feel my heart racing i went straight to my gp and it was 200 beats per min .
i went to the hospital and it had subsided ..ecg was normal .
i went to a heart specialist his thoughts were that it was svt and he gave me a echo and 24 hours holter monitior and found everything to be ok with the heart . but it has now been 2 years and im still getting racing heart during daily activities , along with a fluttering which takes my breath away and feels like someone is punching me in the chest . ive been getting a few a day . also even if i just hang washing it will be racing and i will have to lay down . i keep getting hot and feeling dizzy.
i have slightly high blood pressure 140/90 . my cardiologist has put me on a beta blocker to try to slow my heart down , half a tablet in morning and night but its still going fast and im getting alot of fluttering and funny beats .. i feel as though he doesnt really know whats going on ,, i thought svt is something you get some times and not something that is happening everyday on daily actiivites .. could you please help me .i have two young children at home and im finding it difficult to live daily actiivites ..
You need to have a recording of the ECG when your heart rate is fast so that the proper diagnosis can be made. A Holter or an event monitor is the best way to do this. The seriousness of the arrhythmia depends on the type of arrhythmia.
