Hello, I have been waking at night, I would say twice a week or so, with tachycardia and shortness of breath (like something in my chest/abdomen is preventing me from breathing in). I'm not sure but I think my pulse must be 130-150 when I wake up like this. After a few minutes of being awake my pulse starts to drop back to normal and I can sleep the rest of the night Okay.
I think this has happened less frequently (<1 time per month) before several weeks ago when I developed this chronic malaise and heavy chest discomfort that comes and goes. I had even had a few sleep walking eps that I can remember over many months (infrequent). Also during the day, I will get tachycardia that usually has to be provoked, but it is provoked extremely easily, even by the drop of a pin...then I get lightheaded and an apt for head rushes/near syncope when I'm tach'ing. My chest just doesn't feel right, it's hard to explain...from my lower neck/trachea to the upper center of my chest..even as far down as my inner lower ribs, it all just feels heavy and uncomfortable, and often my airways feels like it is swelling up on me althought I don't wheeze. My echocardiogram was normal. I also have had chronic daily headache for 3 years, proctitis that won't go away, and duodentitis that comes and goes as it pleases.
I also have a deviated septum but I have put off surgery on that, the ENT thought it might help my chronic daily headache and contantly blocked nose feeling to fix the septum and reduce the turbinates.... Does this sound like sleep apnea maybe... What causes night time tachycardia like this. In a 32 year old man, who weighs 225 pounds 5 foot 11.
