swollen and sore feet

swollen and sore feet

In May my husband was hospitalized with a partially blocked, (about 60%) groin area artery.  The dr. was going to perform laser surgery but did not due to the contrast dye that was to be used.  You see, my husband only has one kidney and the creatine levels were high so the dr. did not want to risk harming the only kidney he has left by using  the contrast dye necessary for that type surgery.
So the dr. kept him in the hospital trying to get the kidney level down, (4 days and 15K later), but in the end, felt he couldn't operate on him.  So he's still in this situation.

My husband now has a terribly swollen, red, sore foot on the same side of his body that the blocked vein is.  They have a hot feeling to them.  He can't stand for long periods at all and has to keep it propped up all the time.

My question is this?  Do you feel this is a result of the partially blocked vein, or perhaps something new?  He HAD been standing for long periods on a slate floor while surfing the net.  Also, is there someway to unclog this partially clogged vein without using contrast dye?

The symptoms your husband is having sound like thrombophelbitis and not due to a blocked artery.  He should have a venous ultra-sound exam which will determine if he has blood clots in the leg.  Potentially he may need to be treated with anti-coagulation and elevation of the leg.
