when are coronary artery stents needed

My husband has complained of sob, diaphoresis, and tightness in the chest for more than 6 months. He had an ECG< Echocardiogram, and a Thallium Stress test in June. He was told the tests were normal. His symptoms persisted. In August my husband had a heart cath and was told he had 4 blockages. A 25%,and  (2) 40% blockages,in the LAD, and a 99% blockage in his Rt Coronary artery.  He was sent home on Imdur, ASA , Toprol, Plavix, Diovan, Norvasc,, and Lopid 600mg.
he underwent a second cath and had the 99% RCA opened and 2 stents inserted. One of the 40% LAD blockages is now 60%.
He is to undergo a second Thallium stress test, and if the LAD "lights up" they will discuss what to do nextMy question is why were the 25.%  and the 2 blockages in the LAD not stented at the original heart cath? What is the best course of action for these 3 positively identified coronary artery blockages?

Besides the meds he is on he should be on a statin agent which can prevent the progression of the coronary artery disease.  He needs very aggressive treatment.

In general mild blockages are not stented but are treated with medication  which with diet, exercise and medication and risk factor modification can prevent coronary artery progression.
