Does this IBS problem ever resolves or the person has to live with it throughout the life?
It can get better, but most likely a life long disorder. It will get better with diet and/or stress level etc.
Hi Beefree,
My Friend is 39 yrs . In the past he had gall bladder stone problem. He does have an irregular eating habit. Its in his mind that he has to clear his bowel everyday and ended up taking laxatives inorder to flush out, one doesnt feel comfortable if the bowels are not flushed out, quite human to depend on laxatives, but he used suppositors. Does this IBS problem ever resolves or the person has to live with it throughout the life?
Slippery Elm with help smooth things over but I agree with BeeFree.
It could be a number of things:
Lack of fluids, too much fibre, too little fibre, an unbalanced diet, overuse of laxatives or an underlying medical condition.
How old is your friend? How long has he been experiencing this problem? What is his diet like? When did he notice a change in his bowel movements?
One thing that really helped me when I was going through this was remembering that you are not always going to completely "empty" your bowels. Some days you'll have to go once, other days twice, but don't always expect to be completely emptied. Forcing things only irritates your intestine. As long as he is healthy otherwise, things will move along when they're supposed to and he'll get back into a rhythm again.
All the best,
Brittany
