Can pain be the only symptom of ibs? So scared it could be cancer!!

I have had a pain in my lower tummy / top of pelvic region for 6 weeks! My dr is telling me it is IBS but I am so afraid that it has been misdiagnosed. I keep reading how people with the early stages of ovarian cancer are often misdiagnosed with IBS and now im terrified!!!!! My doctor says it is so unlikely to be ovarian cancer that he wont even consider it. This frightens me more, because by the time he will investigate it, it could be too late. Also, I have no change in bowel movements but when I looked on google it said "to be diagnosed with IBS you must have AT LEAST 2 of the following:

•pain or discomfort that is relieved when a person goes to the bathroom and has a bowel movement
•pain or discomfort that is accompanied by changes in a person's regular bowel movement patterns (for example, the person goes to the bathroom more frequently or less often)
•pain or discomfort that is accompanied by changes in the way a person's stool (poop) normally looks. Some people become constipated and their stools become hard (and difficult to pass); other people develop diarrhea.

This does not apply to me and now Im more frightened that its something serious. Someone please help!

Welcome to the IBS community!  I agree with your doctor that this is very unlikely to be ovarian cancer.  However, also it is very unlikely to be IBS if you don't have ANY changes in your power movements.  Does the pain correlate with anything you eat or do?

Not that I'm aware of. Its just random. Although I do have back, head and neck ache as well. Could this be related or something else?

However, I normally go to the toilet every day but I haven't been able to pass stools yet today, but this may just be clasping at straws?

Also, thank you so much for the advice, I really appreciate it!

Not having a bowel movement every single day is actually still perfectly normal.  I think the aches are unrelated but they are worth getting checked out by a doctor.
