Changing Symptoms

by rude_as, May 29, 2008 05:40AM
I have suffered with IBS for a few years, usually having random bouts of diarrhea once every few weeks for an evening. After starting a healthy eatting plan and loosing 40lbs my IBS was almost non exsistant and I was feeling great and then about 6 weeks ago I started feeling ill. I wrote on here a few weeks ago when I was at my worst having had chronic diarrhea, wind and alternating abdominal pain and nausea. I've had stool samples testing for bacteria and blood tests testing for inflamitory bowel and celiac disease and also thyroid problems and all came back normal. She put me on Mebeverine which has seemed to help stop the chronic diarrhea but not completely. I've had no noticable blood in my stool but sever gas mainly at night and a little nausa but the abdominal pain stopped weeks ago. The doctor said that it could be that I had a bug which has irritated my IBS and caused a flare up. What do you all think? Its so depressing having to carry imodium (immodium) around and worrying if I'm going to be ill all the time, worrying only makes it worse!!!!

yeah  worrying just makes it worse i can relate to that .listen there is nothing depressing having to carry imodium (immodium) around with so what.if it helps with your symptoms thats good right. 50% of people who end up with ibs got from having a bug of some sort other people get and it does not affect them and some like us get it and its ibs.i am sure you will start to feel better again soon like you did for a spell prob just a flare up.its frustrating having to go through all those tests,me too still cant eat wheat through

wish u well.

I know the frustration that you are feeling. I too hate the thought of taking imodium (immodium) with me everywhere I go. Sadly after 30 years, this is just apart of my life. It is not uncommon for you symptoms to change, I have been through that ca couple of time since I was diagnoised.

Thank you to both of you. I think I need to stop worrying about things and try and get on with my life and not let it rule me. Its just frustrating because I was doing so well!!
