Diagnosis?

29 yr old female, normal weight, no family history of anything

Been dealing with this for 3 years, on and off. One symptom is constant: bloating (lower abdominal, looks like I'm 3-4 months pregnant at times, usually goes away within an hour or two.) I will normally (90%) have a normal BM in the morning but by mid-afternoon/evening sometimes I'm bloated, gassy, feeling constipated. I sometimes get cramping (like PMS cramping) and if I have an episode it's solid stool but thinner and not as bulky (but not D.)

Had a bunch of tests done over the years (GI X-Rays, Endoscopy, Abdominal Ultrasound, Abdominal X-Ray, blood tests, etc.) all were normal.

Last week Wed I felt nauseous and had an episode of D (first time in 7 months) - just one episode and felt better. Had some bad (I think) acid issues for 3 days after that, burning, gnawing, constant hunger pains in my upper abdomen. BM's were off too, smaller than normal, thinner than normal, still solid and normal in color. No blood.

Now the acid issues have calmed down but 3 mornings this week I've experienced the cramping. I've had normal BM's in the morning then a bit later I get the cramping and go again and my BM's again are small, thin, but solid, normal color, no blood. Then I usually feel better the rest of the day.

At first I thought Colon Cancer but I have no family history, I'm not overweight, no blood, no D, etc. I'm thinking it's IBS-C because I do deal with mild constipation often.

GI Appt on the 10th.

Currently taking a probiotic, eating yogurt, exercise daily (walk), have tried peppermint, chammomile, ginger, etc. I also take Prilosec daily (20 mgs) and Klonopin as needed because my anxiety is kind of climbing with this episode.

Am terrified of getting a colonoscopy so I'm hoping I can get a diagnosis' without one. But in the mean time, I'm dealing with this episode over a week.

I feel helpless

also, these episodes are rare (besides the bloating and mild constipated, those are almost daily) ... but episodes where I have crampings and off-bowels is def. rare.

Had all the food allergy tests done - all negative. No celiacs, no H.Pylori. Tried food elimination. Had the trans V ultrasound, no cysts lol ... I have a feeling it is stress because my anxiety kind of went through the roof as this episode started. It's slowly getting better but still going to see the GI anyways.

If after your appt with the GI doctor you still don't have answers, try food elimination.  It's becoming a common practice to see if food is causing the problem.  There are food intolerances (i.e. gluten, lactose, casein) and there are food allergies.  Some people have carbohydrate intolerance.  There is yeast overgrowth.  Have you been checked for endometriosis?  Ovarian cysts?  Stress also sets off many people's intestines.

Hang in there!  Something will help - medications, stress relief, food elimination.  It just takes time waiting for appts and tests to be done.  Good luck!
