Diverticulitis

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis when I was a very young child;had a "lump" in my left lower abdomen. At first they thought it was a "Wilmes Tumor" (a form of fatal kidney cancer I think). Spent about 5 days in hospital and had to take a horrible tasting med with sulfer in it ( I think). Details are fuzzy as I was so young. My question is: Why did I have diverticulitis so early in life and why am I still plagued with attacks that are very painful, enough to disrupt my ability to function in a productive manner. I also suffer from fibro-my bet is there is a relation there somewhere like IBS,etc. How can I get rid of this problem permanately without any major invasive procedures such as surgery or colonoscopy???

Seems like there are some very interesting nicknames on this website, just wondering how you arrived at yours-mine was easy, I'm always exhausted and I was born in 55 so that makes me a "babyboomer" I know that none of this is relavent to anything but still can't find your answers in my other post. Have a nice day, Tired55

The other post is: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Irritable-Bowel-Syndrome-IBS/Help-for-diverticulitis-when-acute/show/1630951

When I first started on MedHelp, it was the first thing I thought of (patient as in always seeing doctors, not patient as in patience).  The number relates to my birthday.
