Frequent Loose stools

Hi,

For the past several months, i have had frequent loose stools.  In the morning time, i feel the need to evacuate relatively quickly after i get up.  After that, i usually pass another stool that is loose.  Some are about a foot long and seem to be connected by mucous.  I do pass normal stools from time to time, but it seems that they are not as formed as they used to be.  I have been noticing more gastro problems after being diagnosed with add - hearthburn ect.  and my diet habbits have changed.  I have started to take acidophillous and soluble fiber, which seems to help, but not completely solve my problem.  What could be causing this chronic diarrhea -- i am a healthy 24 yr old male -- i dont feel as if i am loosing weight and i dont have a fever.

Thanks,

I have the exact same thing basically, 27 y.o. male here.  Mainly in the morning, 1 or 2 loose stools, smaller pieces, and they empty fast, not like back when I was normal, it took a couple seconds for a normal movement to come out, and it felt good.  Now, its quick, some minor cramping, but really not a lot of pain or anything.  I do hear more digestive noises now, and it feels like I have to go more times (but less mass) every time.  Its weird.  The doctors told me IBS, but I still have doubts.  I actually took Librax prescribed by another doctor, and it worked perfectly for 4 days - I thought I was cured, but the 5th day and beyond, right back to where I was.  Don't what happened, but I hope we all find a solution some day -

I don't have the IBS problem with diarhea.  I have the opposite issue.  My suggestion applies to all of us.  You're already using the soluable fiber, but you're only getting limited results.  I can definitely relate to that!

I suggest doing some research on the basic elimination diet.  There are about 16 major items on this elimination diet that are common food sensitivities.  I tested positive for all of them.  You may not, though.  It is a long process.  First, you have to be on this elimination diet for a minimum of two weeks before you can even start the process of testing the various items on the list.  My naturopath had me do this for a minimum of six weeks, because my overall immune function is not stable.  When you are ready to start the process, you eat the suspect item in a significant amount once or twice during one day.  Then, you wait three or four days to see if you have a reaction to that item.  Meanwhile, you are back on the elimination diet.  You are supposed to wait on the biggest items, wheat and sugar, until the very last.

I don't have as many problems with my IBS as I used to since discovering all these food sensitivities.

I think EVERYONE on this forum will greatly benefit from reading the latest information I read in the newsletter from Dr. Mercola.  You don't have to be subscribed to read the newsletter.  Just go to mercola.com to get the latest newsletter.  Look for the title:  "How Yeast Wreaks Havoc on Your Life (Health) and How You Can Address it".  One of the illnesses linked to Candidas is IBS.  He mentions that up to 75% of all women have Candidas and don't even know it.  This isn't something that conventional doctors know how to address.  A friend of mine had such difficulty getting Candidas out of her system that now she has Psoriasis.  Candidas leads to very serious illnesses and should NOT be IGNORED.  The best way to know what I'm talking about is to check out this information for yourself.  Candidas does not affect women only.  Thrush is a form of Candidas and is an equal opportunity infection.  I have seen male babies with terrible yeast infections south of the equator.  And, I know a male friend who had to deal with Candida himself.  He beat it with a very strict diet.  He was miserable, but it was worth it, because the infection is GONE.  He was able to resume a normal diet.

Yep, same problem here. I also find that when I do not have loose stools in the morning, my intestines don't make as many loud digestive noises.
