I need suggestions

Have had diarrhea or possible dumping syndrome after eating. Sometimes not for 12 hrs after and at times within an hour. Dr. had me on levsin  and it didn't help and I am at my wits end.  I have dropped a pants size which is fine but I need to stop this problem. Any suggestions are welcome.

I take Questran (generic Cholestrymine) 1 tsp. w/ water at bed (One package can be to binding and constipate.),  It binds bile and stops my diarrhea.  If I don't take this at bedtime.  The next morning, no matter what I put in my mouth I will have diarrhea.  I had my gallbladder removed 9 yrs. ago, and with that I got IBS w/ severe diarrhea (pain under rt rib and fatigue, alot of acid).  Also, try Protonix for acid.  I cannot eat gassy fruits or vegies, citrus or acidic foods, no fried or fatty foods, no dairy, no alcohol, caffiene, garlic, onions.  I eat low sugar, low fat meals - oatmeals, fiber one bars, fruit & nut bars, lean quisine meals, applesauce, activia yogurt. No real people food.
The Questran is a miracle for me.  I've just been put on Symax an antispasm med for your digestion. I also have dyspepsia (difficulty digesting). I live w/ pain everyday due to digestion and adhesions and it disrupts my life and family.
Good luck, I wish you well.

I go through this and have lost 45 pounds in tow months now gained 10 back after going to dietician, I had to cut out fiber and not drink and hour before or after eating. Yours may be different. There are many reasons for diarhea see a gi and keeping a journal was a good suggestions.

Hi - yes, levsin in common, but I found it didn't help.  You should read through the forum postings some more and you might find some ideas that you can try to help alleviate your discomfort.
The first start is always a food journal...right down everything you eat- and then every bowel movement. after a few weeks, you'll have a good amount of information to see if there are any similarities.  Any doctor will have you start with the obvious- food.  It may be a simple food allergy- may be lactose intolerant- or could be another issue that can be treated - like Celiax (gluten type allergy).  You have to start at the basics to rule out the obvious. It is very time consuming and frustrating, but eventually you may find a few things that you can avoid eating to avoid discomfort.  Once you take the time to do this, show your doctor, they may have more insight on the foods and reactions.... if anything, you have at least found out that food isnt the issue.
