IBS abd Soy Milk

Is there any correlation between IBS diarrhea and Soy Milk? I have had 2 bouts recently of nasty diarrhea that has lasted 5 -6 hours and the only thing these bouts had in common is that I had a big glass of soy milk that morning.
My IBS is normally quite controlled with medication.

You may be sensitive to soy or you may be sensitive to sulfites.  Soy products are made with and contain sulfites.  If you read Dr. Mercola's newsletters you'll read information that says that people should also avoid unfermented soy products.  This would include soy milk, since it's not fermented.  Use Dr. Mercola's search engine and just type in the key words about soy and you will be taken to a page of archived articles.  This will explain what I'm talking about.

My own IBS swings the other direction, but I also have GERD and soy products and anything with sulfites in it irritates my GERD.  Then, my IBS will start to bother me some time after this.  Definitely not worth it.

Rice milk would be a better substitute.

Thanks so much for your response. I will look into that for sure. I just could find no other reason for the violent nigts I spent and the soy milk was the only thing the 2 days before had in common. Since I stopped it things haven quieted down again.
