Incomplete bowel mvements

I've had a problem with my bowel movements for about 5 years. At first i thought it was constipation as i wasn't really getting the urge to go and would not do BM for many days sometimes. Now understanding my situation more and changing my diet i do a BM pretty much everyday but i never feel like ive finished. doctors have said this is a symptom of IBS but i have tried to explain to them that its not just a feeling. I literally do not finish the bowel movement, or need to do another BM about an hour after ive left the toilet. this results in sometimes having to go to the toilet 6 or 7 times a day. When i am doing a BM im in the loo for sometimes over 30-45mins at a time because it takes so long to come out. Most of the time i have to actually use my finger and some tissue and try and pull the stool out or move it around until it comes lose. But then before i can finish my muscles clamp up and i cant finish. ive then got this feeling of fullness/bloatedness all day and phyiscally feel sick because the stool is still inside me and even my underwear gets a little dirty sometimes but the stool just sometimes does not come out! Ive got other side effects like hemeroids because of all the straining along with trapped wind, headaches, nausea and general moodiness. I also get very irritated in the anal area as i can physically feel the stool inside.
I have tried to explain to my doctor that it is not constipation as i do pretty much do a BM at least once a day but normally much more but i rarely feel like i finish. They have suggested high fibre diet and drinking 1 1/2 litres of water a day which i now do but all it does is make me go to the toilet more and the stool is softer so harder to pull out! Theyve prescribed me with various laxatives, stool softener medication but it doesnt actually help the actual problem.
Exercise is not the problem as i used to be a dance student and dance every day and i still had the problem.
Sorry to go on for so long but i just wanted to give all the gorey details. Is there anything i do can or take medication wise to help with the motion of the stools coming down or to help me feel that i have completed the BM in one go?

1.5 litre of water is really not enough. we should drink at least 8- 8oz glasses of water a day. A high fiber diet with insufficient water will clog you up......and "they" say  coffee, tea and other liquids do not count in that 64 oz of water.

i drink about 1-1/12 litres of water (water is really all i drink besides the odd tea/coffee) and im on a high fibre diet. I have all bran cereal for breakfast, then a wholemeal roll/sandwich for lunch and some sort of meat with brown rice/pasta and/or vegetables. in all honesty i think im eating too much fibre! but im doing it coz doc told me to go on high fibre diet.

what is your daily intake of water and fiber? That is all I can think of at the moment.
