No Bowem movement

What are some reasons why a person cannot have a bowel movement exception for laxative when they have had a colonscopy and CT of the abdomen and they come back normal. Liquid in the colon or intestines or whatever inside the left side of abdomen that is a lot of discomfort. The more liquid drank the more it builds up and it only decreases when they have a laxative. I'm a 25 year old female and its been going on for six months. I found out I have high cholesterol and hemoglobin 11. I dont think my body is absorbing nutrients very well possibly. I have lost 20lbs in the past four months from not drinking or eating as much as I want. I found out my  my liver and kidneys and thyroid are functioning normally. I have been trying so hard to treat these symptoms going from doctor to doctor. I've heard irritable bowel syndrome or from scoliosis possibly. Does anyone have any idea what this could be???

deffinatley go to a gastro...some meds increase constipation like pain pills.

I had a hemmoroidectomy and had consipation for  months even had to go to er for severe impactation a few times...I have found that eating alot of fiber and little meat helps me and theres a ceral Kellogs makes called Crackling Oat Bran its 15mg of fiber per serving it helps a lot the pieces are big I eat it as ceral with milk or sometimes from box for a snack...it really helps and if you can hendle dried prunes they are good too I personally can not drink prune juice but that works ....also sit in a hit bath before bm it helps...

about the laxatives your bodys likely addicted to them not good try Colace its a very good stool softner..you need to change diet to almost nothing but high fiber foods ( fruit veggies whole grains) no meat..and see if that helps..

If you have bleeding report that to dr,,,and laxatves are known to caue bleedingafter long term use.....good luck....Cherie

I suggest you work with a gastroenterologist to get to the bottom of this----this is their specialty. Looks like they have ruled out cancer or polps, tumours and such. Maybe the question now is, is your bowel functioning properly? Also, you need to eat, for the body to function properly. You need lots of water and foods with fiber. Vegs/Fruits do a good job or salads with vegs/fruits. Fiber helps the bowel work better and of course plenty of water.

I have a similar thing happening to me but I am older and have an excellent doc helping me. She is worried that they are missing something. She says they have to do number of tests to check if it is not something else. Only after these tests and exams are done will they diagnose IBS. People post excellent answers on this forum so just keep reading and you may get some good ideas as to how to handle the condition. Good luck.
