back/stomach pain

I have had some pain in my stomach and back for a little over a month now.  I am going to see a proctologist in 2 weeks and was wondering if a proctologist checks your prostate at all? or is that a job for the general physician.  I was just reading that prostatitis could  be the cause of simultaneous back and stomach pain.  I'd like to mention I have also had bleeding passing bowels for over a month as well.

Thank you

I believe that the general doctor can do a basic male exam.  Then, the doctor will send you to see a specialist, if the general doctor feels like it is necessary.  I'm glad you're checking into your prostrate health.  I suggest that you print out the article(s) that you found your information and bring that with you when you have your appointment.  I've done that with health information that I've found when I see my doctors.  If nothing else, it gives me something more to help me remember everything that I want to ask about when I see my doctor.  Also, I feel like I have something with me that gives me credibility, so I feel more confident when I'm asking about something that seems like it might be a little out of the ordinary.

I'm glad you'll be seeing your doctor, soon.  Since you're bleeding, you might want to check for anemia while you're seeing your doctor, too.

In the meantime, while you're still waiting to see your doctor, aloe vera juice is supposed to be soothing to the whole GI tract, so I think it's worth giving it a try.  You can add it to something like apple juice to make it more pallatable.  The aloe vera juice should hopefully help calm down the colon a little bit and it's supposed to be good for constipation and diarrhea both.  I know that it even helps with GERD.  And, it's safe!
