bloated stomach for a week

for the past week my stomach has been bloated and every time i try to go to the bathroom nothing comes out until yesterday i went but my stool was very dark in color .
i read somewhere that that color could mean GI bleeding but i haven't noticed any blood.
so how can i be sure ?
