You really need to get this checked out; there is no need to be embarrassed. It could be several things but Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease are both distinct possibilities. A gastroenterologist can determine what it is, and can start you on something that will help. Both UC and CD are auto-immune diseases. UC is confined to the large intestine while CD can be anywhere in the digestive tract. I have UC and my quality of life has improved tremendously since I sought help, so I urge you to do the same; getting a good diagnosis is the most important thing you can do.
I would also suggest looking at the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specific_Carbohydrate_Diet, read it, and take a look at the links at the bottom of the page. This diet has helped me.
Good luck!
