ibs is similar to adhesion colic?...

i need answers about adhesion colic..if it comes with severe pain and constantly vomiting..does it need do surgery?...
on last May 20th 2009,my brother had had an accident and caused him to have spleen removal surgery...and today he is hospitalized which had been for 3days now for severe pain on the stomach and constant vomiting (once in 2-3hours) havent eat any food or drink orally..but still continues to vomit...today the doctors here said they had to do some surgery avoid his intestines got more stuck together...this concerns us so much....is it really have to be another surgery?
