CAPD dialysis - request for training video

CAPD dialysis - request for training video

My daughter needs dialysis CAPD (manual option not APD).  She has undergone operation for catheter insertion.  Has anyone seen any video as to how the CAPD is performed at home - manual CAPD (not connecting to an APD machine-these are available on youtube.com).   The steps beginning from draining the solution, connecting new bag, may be dressing and covering exit site etc...

can somebody post a link so that I can download?  Ofcourse, I know that BAXTER will provide training but I need this in addition.  Thanks in advance.

Hi,   you  shouldn't  worry  to  much  about  this,  the PD  nurses  will train you  and your  daughter on  how  to  do "exchanges"
She  will not  be  allowed  to  start  dialysis  until  she  or  you  (and/or  other  family member)  are  well trained.
It's  fairly  simple  to  do,  and  the  big  key  here  is  to  ALWAYS   wash  and/or  sanitize   hands.

If you  still want  to look  at  training  videos, you  can  go to  Youtube  and  search  for  peritoneal   dialysis,   renalinfo.  or    http://www.baxter.com/patients_and_caregivers/therapies/renal/patient_services/pd_treatment_education.html

Baxter  interviewed  me    regarding  life on  PD  and  what  training  was  like.  you  can  find those  under  "renalinfo"   scroll down  to the  woman in glasses wearing  purple  blouse  and  black  jacket     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my1NuMBedrg

Hope  this  helps.

Thank you, marina,  for the reply.

We are being trained by Baxter staff.  But, generally, we would think in developed countries people are well trained and do things systematically using proper systems and tools etc.  That's why I wanted this info.

Second reason for properly done exchange of bags.

Although we went for laproscopic operation, the doctor seems to have used some surgical forceps leading to more cut at exit site and it's still not healed up completely.  But a baxter fellow said generally they use something such as 'ROD', instead of forceps, to have a whole for the catheter to come out.  But one baxter nurse was present at the time of operation in the OT, I do not know whether she knows about this.  The doctor is also inexperienced in this, which I came to know after the operation is performed.

Anyway thanks a lot.

Still If someone has any detailed video or some source, please post here.
