Creatinine and ultrasound

My dad has had kidney cancer, a full nephrectomy nine months ago and all encapsulated. he now has raised creatinine levels and kidney disease in the remaining kidney. he recently saw his surgeon, they said they didnt need to see him untill 6 months but now say he needs an ultra sound, he doesnt know why theyre doing this. anyone have any info, gladly recieved.
